As T-Mobile/Sprint Brief Investors at Citi 2019 Global, New Video Highlights History They Can’t Erase: Huawei & ZTE
Las Vegas, NV – Today, T-Mobile and Sprint executives are presenting to investors at the Citi 2019 Global TMT West Conference. Ahead of the event, Protect America’s Wireless released a video to shed light on the companies’ history enabling Huawei and ZTE footholds across the globe.
The Protect America’s Wireless video raises the chilling, but crucial question about the investors in the room: “How do we know they won’t fund Huawei in the new 5G network?” The answer is, of course, we won’t – until Sprint and T-Mobile make a clear, public promise refusing to use Huawei technology in deploying 5G. So far, no such promises have been made.
The video also features audio from Former House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-MI), who has been extremely vocal about the national security concerns surrounding the proposed merger and shares Protect America’s Wireless view that a robust conversation regarding national security would be “a very welcomed conversation” and a critical one when it comes to protecting Americans’ security and privacy in the digital future.
Watch the video here:
Former House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-MI):
“We would be absolutely naive not to pay attention to Huawei and ZTE as there were clear ties to the Chinese Government that includes Huawei and ZTE stealing intellectual property and being able to conduct espionage efforts.
“What threats to our national security — our intellectual property… What does this merger bring to that? If they’re willing to have that same kind of conversation on a more global aspect of their operations and investments, that would be a very welcomed conversation, certainly for me and, I think, the U.S. Government.”
