T-Mobile/Sprint Merger National Security Memo

The Sprint/T-Mobile merger raises a number of national security concerns despite recent rumors that the New T-Mobile will consider not using Huawei equipment to build a 5G network in the US. After increasing pressure from governments and companies removing and banning Huawei, ZTE and other Chinese technology from telecommunications infrastructure, Sprint and T-Mobile have said they will consider not using this technology either. However, neither party has promised as part of any readily verifiable and enforceable governmental agreement not to use Huawei equipment in its promised US 5G mobile network.
